I’m Finally Back! – It’s DAY 12 of my Design Challenge!

ABOUT: I love the rustic, down-to-earth feel of this organic copper Ensō circle unisex necklace. It can be worn as a choker for an edgy, dramatic look or it can be worn long as a long casual elegant necklace.
I solder a thick piece of copper wire, flatten it and then texture it with a hammer. I add sterling silver accents to the chain and then connect it all.
Ensō, a Japanese word meaning circle, symbolizes absolute enlightenment, strength, elegance, the universe, and the void. In Zen Buddhist painting, ensō symbolizes a moment when the mind is free to simply let the body/spirit create. One of the key principles in Japanese aesthetic is controlling the balance of composition through asymmetry and irregularity. The denial of perfection is a concept that speaks strongly to me as an artist, a mom and a spiritual seeker.
